For Transplant Centers
National Friends is a patient advocacy organization with an operational role on the patient and caregiver side. We support family readiness and practical movement, while clinical authority remains with transplant-center teams.
What problem this addresses
Some patients arrive at second-center evaluation late and disorganized due to caregiver burden and fragmented logistics. This creates avoidable delay in already time-sensitive pathways.
What National Friends does in pilot participation
- Supports caregiver-side organization of records and practical readiness tasks
- Helps families understand what to gather before center outreach
- Provides rights-aware, non-clinical operational guidance
- Encourages respectful, efficient communication with transplant-center teams
What National Friends does not do
- Does not replace transplant coordinators or clinical workflows
- Does not determine candidacy or treatment plans
- Does not represent itself as center staff
